Sounds like your computer's battery is failing. Probably a small watch-type
battery on the motherboard. If you mention the make and model of your
computer (or motherboard if you built it yourself) someone here can probably
recognize it and give you specific instructions. How old is the computer?
The battery powers both your RTC (Real Time Clock) and keeps a trickle of
power to the CMOS (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor), which is the
non-volatile memory that remembers your BIOS settings (the "default
configuration") even when the computer is unplugged.
