/q/ I'm running XP Home SP2. Original load was OEM (emachines)

What processes should I expect to find in task manager on a clean boot
- What would show in Task manager if there were nothing on the machine
except windows (OEM stuff not withstanding)

Anticipate using info to help clean up my startup and trying to ferret
out those that I deem unnecessary.

2nd /q/ Is there any way to prevent stuff like real player update
quicktime and the like from insinuating themselves into my startup?

I can eliminate via msconfig or the registry run, but the next time I
run the prog on purpose, there they are again

Thanks
