What video card is installed? I use an ATI Radeon. With one game only, I
see the same thing. ATI's VPU Recover feature is at work when this happens.
It resets the graphics acceleration (to the original Full acceleration)
without requiring a restart. Even if you don't have an ATI card, perhaps
your display drivers/software does something similar?
