This has all been beyond frustrating and I am so not liking Microsoft at this
time.
I loaded the new security patches which included SR-2 on a Thinkpad (check
for virus', spyware, etc)and it corrupted windows explorer. There was no
alternative but to run a full repair.
Unfortunately, the client had not saved the Thinkpad T40 setup disks but the
Windows XP-Pro serial # is on the underside of the laptop.
I had to use a new copy of XP (that I had for another client upgrade this
week). Its all sorted out now but Windows now wants me to activate my new
copy of XP but I can't its for another client, it cost $200.00 and the
Thinkpad already has a copy of XP installed, purchased with the said machine.
What does one do without having to basically pay again for a 2nd license on
same machine.
Thanks.
