They do it that way "in case" you want to reinstall the software. Makes the
installs faster and easier. Or so "they" say, "they" being a couple of
software authors and folks on ng's I've chatted with in the past. Talk to
serious coders though, and they'll be honest - it ain't completely
un-installed if it's still on the machine.
   I assume you've also noticed that some leave enough behind in folders,
etc., so the whole thing will reinstall with a key click? I find it even
more abhorant when they can't even pick up their doo-doo and dispense with
it.
