Add/Remove Programs Problem

I noticed yesterday that when I went to uninstall some software, it was not
listed in the Add/Remove Programs applet in Control Panel of WinXP Pro SP2.
Further, most of the installed program DisplayNames were missing. The data
shows up in the Registry where it should be, but not in the applet. I
checked the MS Knowledge Base and the closest entries related to Win2K.
They refer to cases where Uninstall keys have too many (>60) characters or
DisplayNames do. Neither case applies to my problem; I counted characters.

Anybody have any ideas?

TIA

Carl
