I did a test with a few machines on SUSE 9.1 Personal, Mandrake 10.0
Official and Fedora Core 3 about a month ago. Of all of the distro's, FC3
was the most polished, with everything working out of the box (so to
speak) and has detected all the hardware and is working. I also found in
side/side testing that FC3 was the faster of them, although MDK10 was
about the same as FC3, SUSE 9.1 was just way slower in on-screen
experience.
While there are a great many updates in FC3, it's good to see them since
that means they are still working to resolve issues (that I've not
experienced yet). I still consider myself a Linux noob, but FC3 is as
close to a Windows XP replacement as any of them get right now.
