Please try the following.

1) Download the following three items...

         McAfee Stinger
         http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/

         Trend Sysclean Package
         http://www.trendmicro.com/download/dcs.asp

         Latest Trend signature files.
         http://www.trendmicro.com/download/pattern.asp

Create a directory.
On drive "C:\"
(e.g., "c:\New Folder")
or the desktop
(e.g., "C:\Documents and Settings\lipman\Desktop\New Folder")

Download SYSCLEAN.COM and place it in that directory.
Download the Trend Pattern File by obtaining the ZIP file.
For example; lpt375.zip

Extract the contents of the ZIP file and place the contents in the same directory as
SYSCLEAN.COM.

2) Disable System Restore
        http://vil.nai.com/vil/SystemHelpDocs/DisableSysRestore.htm
3) Reboot your PC into Safe Mode and shutdown as many applications as possible
4) Using both the Trend Sysclean utility and Stinger, perform a Full Scan of your
platform and clean/delete any infectors found
5) Restart your PC and perform a "final" Full Scan of your platform using both.
6) Re-enable System Restore and re-apply any System Restore preferences,
         (e.g. HD space to use suggested 400 ~ 600MB),
7) Reboot your PC.
8) Create a new Restore point

| Greetings all,
|
| I have had my HP Media Center m1050e system for about 2 1/2 weeks and I have
| been having a consistant problem of the system hanging up and freezing
| requiring a manual reboot. This is a random occurrence and there's nothing I
| can readily pinpoint as the reason - just a random lockup. I have run
| Spybot, Ad-aware, complete virus scans, done chkdsk, removed unecessary
| startup items, run winoptimizer, deleted original system administrator and
| created new profile. I also use ZoneAlarm Pro for a firewall. I seem to
| notice it happening often when I'm onlinr but can't say for sure that
| could be the root cause. I invariably open task manger now and keep an eye on
| the cpu usage to try and see when it spikes and then freezes at 99-100%.
| Again, when it does, it shows that percentile under processes and
| attributable to System and not System Idle. This is really driving me buggy,
| I would appreciate any help. Many thanks.
