In the last few weeks, my computer has developed an inability to convert MP3
files to WAV files. It can play MP3 files, and it can play WAV files - but
if any application (I've tried three different ones) tries to convert an MP3
to a WAV file, the system immediately freezes.
I've reinstalled WinXP and SP2, and the problem persists. Is it possible
that the WAV encoder is using hardware acceleration and that the soundcard is
bad or something? This one has me stumped.
This was working fine not 3 weeks ago. I've had SP2 installed for months.
