Alex thanks for your response to Folkestone Monkey. I tried to write a reply
yesterday but ended up with a new thread.

I, too, am having the same problem pretty much. I have set the Updates to
Automatic and have done numerous other recommended fixes, however, to date
nothing has worked. I can go into the Windows Catalogue open updates and
check them there. However, none of the various linkw within the OS will
check for the updates. I get to the update window "Checking for Updates" and
it hangs there and does nothing.
