It can't be Windows XP...Windows causes computers to shut down, not start
up!

That being said, it's pathetic that Gateway is so clueless. No wonder all
their retail stores shut down!

It definitely sounds like the "Wake On LAN" is enabled in the system BIOS.
as Vegabond suggested. When you first boot up, during the post, prior to
Windows launching, you'll see something to the effect of; Hit F2, for
Setup, (possibly F10). Once in Setup, check the BIOS options for a setting
called Wake On LAN, and disable it, save the settings, and exit.
