Not very long ago, I upgraded WinXP Pro to SP2. Everything works as it
should except for the shutdown process. My Win2000 box shuts down perfectly,
but XP Pro SP2 hangs at the screen that says "Windows is shutting down". The
mouse and keyboard freeze up at this instant as well and the only recourse I
have is to turn it off. I am using a D-Link DKVM-2 Switch.
As history, I do not have my boxes networked. I am on dial-up connection. I
haven't loaded any of my USB stuff yet. If I attach the monitor, keyboard
and mouse directly to the WinXP box, it shuts down okay but it freezes at
the shutdown screen when it is running through the DKVM switch. Does anyone
know of a fix for this problem? Thank you for sharing it, if you do as I
miss the ability to switch workstations on the fly.
