Thanks for responding. I do not think there is any policy set up on the
server. He worked only at my pc the day this happened. I am quite sure it
was something he changed to the settings for this particular pc. I have
loked at services and policies (Control Panel/Admin. Services) and cannot
seem to find anything related to printing that is disabled. I am convinced
this is a "quick fix", is there some way the settings in XP professional can
be set to look only at the network for printing devices and not on the local
pc? This is what I think might be happening. I cannot see any listing of
any printers (local or network) in control panel (printers). When I print
from applications I can see a listing of printers (local and network, there
are 2 local printer options) but I cannot make any changes to any of them
(ie. select default etc.) the only way I can make any changes to any printer
selection is if I search for printers on the network and the only printer
that shows up is the network printer. Hope this helps clarify this irritant.
By, the way, it does not matter how I log in...I can log in as
administrator, etc. and it makes no differance. Thanks for any further
advice.
