Hello all wpwxpg,
I'm a System Engineer for my company. In our network we use
XP pro for some client computers.
I get a very strange problem, many times: I update from Windows Update,
I restart and after this I can not log into anymore:
- With the wrong password, the system tel me: "Wrong login/password"
- With the good one, the system tel me: "The system cannot log you on
due to the following error: The parameter is incorrect."
It's arrived 5 time in our network, and now on one of my friend
computer (XP pro) the same problem.
I "solve" this by a "re-install/repair" (I don't know how to call this,
it's when you put the cd, boot on it, go to install and after go to
repair ...)
Now, I have 2 questions:
- Is there a way to solve this problem without re-installing / reparing
the system: This way suck ! I lose time to re-install driver/ pach/ etc
...
- What can I do to solve this problem on all our computers, I don't
what this anymore
1/ Windows XP without update is very very dangerous and very
very unstable
2/ Update (I only update security !!!) Windows XP is also very
dangerous. I mean, with a proffessional operating system, A
administrator can not log into the System ! This should not happen !!!
- Is it a bug, a virus ? do someone else get this problem (5 time for
us) ?
In our company, it's 50/50 unix/windows. I lose 2 days each week for
this kind of problem, for our windows maintenance. Unix maintenance is
around 2 hours a month. Windows for client (only for clients of course
...) computers is a good solution, except for the maintenance cost/
security problem.
Sorry for the way I write this thread. But I think that, remove the
Admin login possibility with a security update should never happen.
This is a basic features of OS possibilities.
Hope someone here can help me to solve this problem definitively,
because now I scared of windows update and I'm scared of windows not
updated.
Guillaume
