My father in law's PC is having problems with the recent MS autoupdate files.
His machine has installed the security update but will not install the
Malicious Software Removal Tool. You can try through the Yellow icon
(exclamation mark) in the notifucations section on the tack bar but it just
stops the install process at the "initializing" stage. When ever you try
restarting or shutting the computer down it stalls at the message "Updates
are being installed (1 of 1). Do not turn off your computer or un plug it. It
will turn off automatically" You can leave it for hours like that and it
won't do anything - the only way to proceed is to flick the main power switch.
Is there anyway to recover from this situation? Can I clear out the update
and shut the machine down normally?
Advise is much appreciated!
Cheers,
Bob
