I am running Windows XP Pro with SP2 and recently removed Intel PRO Set
(including PRONoMgr.exe) via Control Panel. Upon the next re-start of
Windows, msconfig appeared to tell me that it was in diagnostic mode. Upon
examination I found that PRONoMgr was still in the Startup folder and I
could find no reason why msconfig should think it was in diagnostic mode. I
put msconfig back to normal startup and re-stared the system but the same
happened again. In essence I have a system that is trying to start an
application that simply does not exist. I even went into the registry and
removed the offending entry in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run but somehow
the problem returns when Windows is re-started.
Can anyone please tell me how to fix this problem?
