Fine - as long as you have a reputable Firewall like Kerio and are happy
it is working, you can have the Windows one off, and Security center
told to keep quiet

What is needed is the Application layer gateway service.

UPnP is needed for some things that might get run across the connection,
notably ICS, so it gets installed.
