Hmph I didn't no IE can display the ico format. Man learn something new

If for a single site, you can download the .ico manually.
Visit that site and create a shortcut of it to the Desktop
Right-click the URL shortcut, and Send To > Notepad
Look at the line reading IconFile:
Example:
IconFile=http://www.google.co.in/favicon.ico
Now, type http://www.google.co.in/favicon.ico in the browser window and save
the .ico file locally.

WOW!! Y'all are wonderful. I was pretty sure my icons just recently
disappeared, so I called XPSP2 support. The "fix" they gave me did not last.
For your amusement, it was: select the favorite/r click/properties/change
icon/delete the fav/tools/internetoptions/deletecookies/delete files/close
browser/open browser/go back to the site/readd!! I'm too embarrassed to tell
you how many times I did that.
