Hi, Ray.

There must be dozens of different MS PS2 mouse versions, so we can't be sure
which one you have.

My MS "Wireless Desktop Wheel Mouse" came with MS IntelliPoint software.
Using this program, I can customize many things about the mouse. I can even
make it behave differently in different applications.

If your mouse is like mine, perhaps you have programmed it to behave
strangely <g> in IE?

You say it does this "A few minutes after opening a site"; does this mean
that the erratic behavior happens in IE and nowhere else?

The inbox.dbx file is used by Outlook Express, not by the browser. It is
simply the storehouse for emails received, so I don't see any reason to
believe that it would have anything to do with erratic behavior of the
mouse.

What driver are you using for your mouse? In Device Manager, you can check
the current driver version and then click Update Driver to see if it can
find a later or more appropriate version. It might help to delete the
existing driver, then reboot and let WinXP detect your mouse and install a
new driver for it.
