STEP 1. Ping the gateway (DSL router) and DNS servers. My guess is if you
are losing the Internet yet seeing the printer then the gateway or DNS
addresses are missng - or being removed by the wizard.

The DHCP server in the DSL router assigns an IP addresss, subnet mask,
gateway and DNS servers. If they aren't being assigned then they have to be
configured manually - static address etc.

Run ipconfig /all and post results.
