There are certainly better news readers than Outlook Express. There are
certainly better email clients than Outlook Express. If however, like me,
you are determined to use one tool for both jobs, there is nothing available
that will do a better job. One of these days there will be, but I've looked
at a bunch of alternatives, it doesn't yet exist.
