Hi, this is a question concerning a non DELL PC which I own. This PC has a
ASUSTeK Computer INC. A7N8X-E REV 2.xx MOBO with a 2.15 gigahertz AMD Athlon
XP and Phoenix Technologies, LTD ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe ACPI BIOS Rev 1013
11/12/2004 and 1536 Megabytes Installed Memory (Slot 'DDR1' has 512 MB, Slot
'DDR2' has 512 MB,Slot 'DDR3' has 512 MB). I have Win XP Pro SP2 installed
in a Maxtor 6Y200P0 [Hard drive] (203.92 GB) -- drive 0 (UltraATA). I also
have a 2nd Maxtor 6Y200P0 [Hard drive] (203.92 GB) -- drive 1 . There are
two SATA ports on the motherboard and tiny red cable that connects them to
the SATA HD's. I already have 2 Ultra ATA drives installed as Master and
Slave on one IDE port and 2 CD/DVD drives on the other port.
This is the issue: I connected a 300GB Maxtor SATA HD to one of these SATA
ports on the MOBO and sometimes when I boot up, the SATA drive is available
as drive J: and sometimes it's not available at all. Usually, if I perform a
hard shut down, it reappears when I reboot, but not always.
How can I fix this?
Thanks for any ideas!
