Access Denied (was Moving a file corrupts it)

I am having a problem similar to the one Mike posted a few weeks ago. Here is
the situation:

When I wish to move a file from one folder to another, I usually use the
right click>cut>paste mouse command. In the past few weeks, however, when I
go to retrieve the file in its new location, I receive messages similar to
those listed by Mike. I simply cannot access those files, nor can I delete
them. It happens with a variety of file types - doc, html, xls, jpg, pdd. By
the way, I get the same result when I use the edit>cut>paste command. Yet if
I use the command right click>copy>paste, I can retrieve the file in its new
location. Similarly, if I am working within a Word document and I use the
"save-as" command, I can save it to the new folder and succesfully retrieve
it.

This problem surfaced after a number of actions I had taken with my desk
top. I installed a wireless home network (from a reliable ISP) so that I
could access the internet from any location in the house and yard with my lap
top. The desk top was then the victim of a number of "drive-by" browser
hijackings (such as C2Lop and cool web search). To get rid of those I
downloaded and installed Zone Alarm Pro, Yahoo Anti-Spy, Spybot, and AdAware.
I also have a firewall with the router.
I use Norton AV2004 as well.
My assumption is that there is a problem with Windows, rather than a
specific program (I have Windows XPSP2). I have also wondered if it might be
a virus, but have been unable to research any that seem to cause this
problem. I have explored the Windows Help and Support to no avail. Could
there be some problem in Clipboard?

Thank you for any suggestions and ideas.
