You're not wasting my time, but you have to remember that you need to
describe your situation so someone who can't see your computer can
grasp the issues. Since you can see some of your work but not all, then
my suggestion still remains: do nothing more on the computer. Take it
to a good local professional and have them run data recovery software
on it to recover your missing files. It is *extremely* important that
you do *nothing* more on the computer if you want to recover this data.
After the data is retrieved by the professional, have them show you how
to back up using a cd burner.
