I have the same problem here for some of our word files.
We migrated 4 pc's from windows 200 pro to windows xp pro and now the
windows xp pc's have the problem that some word files open slow.
This even happens when the file is located on the local drive of the win xp
pc. For some files i was able to resolve the problem by changing the template
path from an non existing path to an existing path (the non existing path was
never a problem for windows 2000 pro). So for me it seems that there is some
sort of time out in windows xp pro that is longer then the time out in
windows 2000 pro for opening files.
Now is my question where can i find this time out setting?

I hope everyone understands what i just explained.

regards,
