I use both Ad-Aware and SpyBot S&D and find that they are
safe to use if you follow the directions. SpyBot has more
"tools" built-in and both programs can delete or change
registry entries. I have never had any problems with either
program on my computers and have been very careful about
keeping the system clean. I have also used SpyBot and
Ad-Aware on other computers that had hundreds of bad files
(one had over 400 hits with SpyBot) and all ran much faster
after cleaning.
