Many programs downloaded from the internet contain spyware or adware.
Spybot S&D as well as Ad-Aware will allow you to identify and remove this
spy/ad-ware. However, these programs that contain the adware also have
protections that will disable the main program if the spyware is removed.
It is very likely that this is the problem of which your wife speaks. Both
spyware programs work extremely well and it is my experience that each
program will catch spyware that the other missed. That's why I use both.
When using the programs, you will need to decide if you wish to keep the
spyware infused program or find another option. Either way, you can usually
find options or workarounds by searching the internet. Good luck.
