Taskbar won't retain size changes

I've searched around here a bit, and haven't found anyone else with the same
problem.

I've got a brand-new laptop, with WinXP Pro. I want the taskbar to be
double it's usual height, but every time I re-start, the taskbar returns to
it's original size.

Every time I start Windows, I have to unlock the taskbar, re-size it, and
then re-lock it again. And then it just changes back when I re-start.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Gordy
