Character Repeat Broken, ZA events

Win XP Home SP1, ZA Pro v 5.5.062.000, Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG
(I already posted earlier about this in an XP NG but didn't solve the
problem yet. I crossposted this to news:comp.security.firewalls and
news:microsoft.public.windowsxp.general . There was a storm outside and
the machine, usually constantly on, had turned off. After I booted up, I
noticed the problems.)
I can't get Character Repeat to work. I tried the settings in Control
Panel > Keyboard > Properties to no avail. Accessibility Options are not
checked. In the BIOS, Advanced BIOS settings, I have Typematic disabled.
I believe that's the default, and I tired Enabled too.
I also noticed the printer didn't work, but I repaired by reinstalling
the USB controller, Standard Enhanced PCI uo USB Host Controller. (I
rightclicked on My Computer > Manage > Device Manager > Universal Serial
Bus controllers). The printer now works.
In the Event Viewer (Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event
Viewer) there are some errors and warnings:

Description:
The content index filter for file "c:\windows\internet
logs\zalog2004.11.25.txt" generated content data more than 8 times the
file's size.
The log number is different for each of the warnings. There are several.
What's wrong, and how do I fix things?
