I successfully got my Win XP Home restored. Then I installed my SP2 CD.
Everything seems to be working OK except one thing.

I have a Win 98 SE PC that is connected to my Win XP Home PC for Internet
Connection Sharing. This worked great before restoring Win XP and
installing SP2. Now after being dialed in for a while (could be 10 minutes,
could be an hour, it varies) it becomes disconnected and prepares to dial
in. I click the button instead of waiting and it appears to be dialing but
then an error comes up (680 no dial tone), I click the button to go ahead
and redial and it works OK.

I constantly get errors 0x80042108 and 0x800CCC0D while in Outlook and
Outlook Express. Event Viewer shows Error ID 31008. I have Intel PRO/100
VE Network Connection. I've tried to see if I need to update this but don't
have a clue which to click on the Intel website. I got the latest drivers
for my USR modem. Both PCs are set to obtain an IP automatically. We have
2 phone lines and I've tried the other phone line -- same results. I put my
modem in a different slot -- same results. I've turned hardware compression
on and off -- same results.

I've searched everywhere for an answer and I've checked both PCs and I think
I have them set up OK but obviously something is wrong.

I'm wondering if I have something set as disabled or manual in Services that
should be Automatic.

It has been very frustrating because the only warning I get is that Outlook,
Outlook Express, and Internet Explorer suddenly stop responding and then I
get the Link Failed message.

Please help me before I tear my hair out!

Debbie
