I performed the tasks that you recommended on both of my machines. I ran
one scan on each using each program in safe mode and then ran one scan on
each using each program in normal mode. The Sysclean scan on my workstation
took 8.5 hours the first time!)

I find no difference as a result of all the scanning.

I found a utility called HijackThis and ran it before the scanning you
recommended. I ran it after the scanning you recommended. It showed no
change.

a link for obtaining HijackThis (freeware).
