If I could turn back the time I would have made a backup 

I was so careful with XP that I didn’t even update to service pack 2.

I did try to do the recovery console, but it is stuck at C:

Just to let you know I did boot with a WINDOWS ME startup disk, entered in
dos and did a Scandisk; in doing that it found and I fixed several misreading
there.

Of course that did not solve my problem.

Can you please guide me through the steps of Recovery?
