Greetings.
I am experiencing the following behaviour on a client's PC:
The PC is an Acer TravelMate notebook running Windows XP SP2, being
used with a Targus USB Port Replicator with an integrated ethernet
card. The laptop is connected to an IP Novell network, with NDS as the
primary login. There is also a Windows 2000 DC, upon which the user's
home directory resides.
I tried configuring the laptop to make his home directory available
offline using Offline Files. It appeared to work; however, after
taking the laptop home (and unplugging the port replicator), the
offline files were unavailable. After bringing the laptop back into
the office, the files would not synchronize. Upon investigation, the
"Enale Offline Files" option had been deselected. After testing
various configurations, I determined that the option would be disabled
after rebooting only if the USB Port Replicator had just been removed,
or installed. Rebooting without changing the hardware configuration
did not reset the option. Using the built-in ethernet adapter instead
of the one on the port replicator did not affect this behaviour.
I would appreciate any insight anyone can offer into this problem.
Cheers,
