A blanket statement of "do not install" is usually bad information
especially if no reasons are given.
It certainly does not apply to all and with no more information is
little more than scare mongering.
Laptops are largely proprietary and thus the manufacturer should be
consulted before installing as major as a Service Pack.
Many giving Service Pack information routinely suggest contacting the
manufacturer especially with laptops.
If the manufacturer says there are no problems and you still
experience issues, then something is probably wrong with the computer,
probably hardware, possible memory.
If the manufacturer says to wait, then you should wait for the
manufacturer to provide a fix such as HP has done for Service Pack
support.
