Hmmm, interesting. Thanks Richard. I just looked at the hardware in
my Device Manager, and there are a lot of entries under USB
Controllers. There are 8 entries just for the USB Root Hub and
several other entries, most of which are apparent duplicates. The
only difference between the duplicates, it seems, is in the I/O Range.
The USB Harddrive is does, however, show up under Disk Drives. More
or less, the computer is running fine, so I'm hesitant to do anything.
But would it be safe and a good idea to 'remove' all of the USB
entries and reboot and let the computer 'find' all its hardware again?
