With your additional info, I suggest you contact Toshiba for
assistance. They may be able to supply you with a standard
XP CD (they may want some cash) and then you could follow
the instructions.
Have you tried booting into "safe mode" by pressing F8
before Windows loads. That should only load the default VGA
drivers, you might be able to repair your computer from that
point. Or you might re-boot to the point before Windows
loads and select the recovery console from a CD (don't know
if the Toshiba CDs have that.
In general, the OEM Recovery CDs are images and you place
the CD in the drive and do a cold boot, the CDs will offer
options as they auto-run. They may allow various options,
ask Toshiba or read your manual that came with the computer.
The recovery CDs often will format and do a clean install
back to the new factory condition. You will lose all data
and programs that were not factory installed and all
updates.
Bottom line, ask Toshiba what your options are.
