i dont like bothering other people, i did my research first to try and fix
this myself but with no avail. The common problems with mrxsmb.sys go from no
icons showing to 5 minute long logons, frequently because of mapped
drives(wich i dont use) or from what ive read another "fix" is to dissable
the file and printer sharing for microsoft networks, this doesnt work either
and in any case i need that service.another thing before you try and help me
is that im sure my computer is virus free and spyware free, ive run spybot
and ad-aware along with macafee and other antivirus software, my long loging
isnt program related since without network cable it goes from poweron to full
use in 18 seconds.
Problem:
I have a Laptop(dell inspiron 9100) i use it at work and at home, at work
theres a domain, and at home i have a network with dsl. To be able to conect
at both places without having to manually change settings, i use an alternate
ip address for my home LAN. Before i reinstalled my windows xp pro, my
computer would connect at work instantly and at home there would be a 30-45
second delay before i could use the internet(the loging in would be instant,
this was acceptable as i could use my computer anyways.).
After i reinstalled my windows xp pro and configured my domain for work and
my alternate ip(exactly the way it was before) address for home the problem i
have is that after i put my password at start up the system hangs for about
67 seconds, thanks to a file named mrxsmb.sys(acording to bootvis) ive done
some research about it and seems like mrxsmb.sys causes a lot of problems,
exceptthat nowone seems to have had the exact same problem as me, i did find
some1 with that problem in another forum but his question wasnt answered.
Another thing is that when i boot my computer at work OR when i put the
password without the network cable connected it boots instantly, so the
problem seems to be my computer looking for the domain when i put my password
at home, is there a way to circumvent this?
Sorry for the long post, hope someone can help me, thanks in advance.
