I strongly disagree; while I do think that spyware prevention/removal
software is needed, I think your initial statement is inaccurate. Many,
many websites deliver popup advertisements when the page is loaded and/or
when the viewer exits the page. Try going to http://www.cnn.com - I bet
you'll either get a popup or have your blocker notify you that one was
blocked. Popups are not generated solely by adware, and usually
popup-blockers won't block adware ads anyway (in my experience), as one
doesn't need a main browser window open to receive the advertisements.
