Hi,

Boot with the WinXP CD, accept the license (do not press "r" to enter the
recovery console). You will be offered to repair the existing installation,
bypass this as well and choose a new installation. You should be able to use
the new installation (no need to activate if you don't plan on keeping it)
to recover data UNLESS you encrypted it (WinXP Pro only). You may need to
"take ownership" to recover some data.
