That is to say: another DHCP server would take over if the first one fails.

The trick is to split the subnet's addresses into two non-overlapping DHCP
scopes, so, that use of either DHCP server will result in a DHCP client
receiving an exclusive IP address in the one/same subnet.
i.e., For a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0:
Scope 01: 192.168.1-128
Scope 02: 192.168.129-254
Each DHCP server would have the same DHCP options.
