Hi:

I also use Dell's notebook for a while from I8000 till I8600 and some
Latitude models.

This thing happened to me all the time for some unknown reasons, and for my
own experiences, it is not related to SP per se.

I usually do it with two methods:

(1) Wait a little bit of longer for the system loading - usually there will
be a second loading after the completion of the first one (about 10-20
seconds later) and you can tell by the little green light of the hard disk.

(2) If you need to get the icon back after login into the account, the
easiest way is to log off and login again. The second login will bring back
all the missing icons on the systray.

I don't know the reasons but hope that will work for you.

Good luck.
