OK, here we go.

In windows FW exception , click add (port)
For a name say "MSNProxy1863" without "'s
for port say "1863"
click TCP
Do it on both PC's

Make sure Broswer Service is set to automatic start on both pc's and that
they are started.
Make sure DCHP client service is runing on both and is started.

Open the NIC properties, tcpip protocol select, properties, click NETBIOS
over TCP/IP.
(This is because you can ping so the tcp is working, but the DSN, DHCP ICS
gismo may not understand NETBIOS. I use it and it works.)
Do both PC's.

One last note:
I don't know how you are using the shares but the default for home is to
authurize via the guest account, so the pro pc is also defaulted to this but
the guest account may be disabled by default for security reasons. Enable
the Guest account (on both) and make sure you assign a very complex
password to the guest accouint (like 11 chars with upper, lower case,
numders) This is the only protection to prevent a hacker from using the
guest account.

OK now with all that in place go ahead and use the default settings for
passport because you need that to get MSN Mess working and that will tell
you if the net is working. Make sure too set MSN options for security and
such.

I'm toast for the night.
