You can't do what you want. You can create a partition for Linux or add
another hard drive for Linux and dual-boot. There are how-to's on the
Knoppix site (or Google) for how to install Knoppix if you want to run
it from the hard drive. Usually Knoppix is used "live", but it can be
installed. It is a Debian distro and if you aren't familiar with Linux,
not the easiest to work with. You'd be better off with a more
newbie-friendly distro.

That said, you should realize that Linux support for writing to NTFS is
only in the experimental stage. It is not suggested that you do so
since data corruption of the NTFS system can result. The normal setup
for dual-boot Linux/Windows-NTFS systems that will share data is to
create a third partition (or have a third hard drive) formatted FAT32.
Linux can write to FAT32 with no problem.

If you are trying to write to your NTFS partition in order to fix a
Windows problem, you will need to do it with something like Winternals
ERD Commander. You can download an emergency copy at
www.winternals.com.
