Settings are stored by the path used to access. So even setting a folder one way it won't show the same settings if accessed another way.

EG
My Comp\C:\Docs & Settings\My Documents\a folder
has different settings to
My Documents\a folder

even though you end up in the same folder.

Perhaps you should work in a different way. If you don't remember folder settings then all folders take their settings from the first folder opened.

So if you set My Comp to Icon and My Docs to Details - viewing a folder by starting a window at My Comp you'll see everything in Icon Style and if you start a window at My Docs everything is Detail view.
