I have a totally different problem but this posting tells me that my problem
may have something to do with the 1394 connectivity. So I am posting this as
a comment and a question.
I have not been able to use the Dialup Connection icon for connecting to my
I S P. But if I open O. E. and ask it to connect, it can open the Dialup
Connection dialog and I get connected too my I S P alright. I have tried to
use the Network connection for setting up an Internet Account with my I S P
but Windows XP does not allow me to proceed with that approach.
However, in the Network Connections dialog, there are no Properties for the
I S P entry, even though it is there. But there are Properties for the 1394
connection. The device Manager shows a 1394 Network Adapter of Microsoft.
But there is no firewire card installed by me on my computer. Is this
Microsoft activated 1394 device not letting the Dialup Connection become
active?
I am wondering if I could remove the 1394 connection from the list of
Devices and whether by doing so, would Windows XP then automatically
recognize my Network Connection as a Dialup connection? Or would it permit
me to configure a new Dialup connection to my I S P?
