This sounds as if you are trying to install some third party package
designed for Win9x, with DOS drivers loaded in config.sys and MSCDEX in
autoexec.bat
Don't
XP does not work in that way at all. Remove them, remove whatever
package it was,
You can enable the inbuilt basic burning by looking for the drive in My
Computer. If it does not show, you have mixed registry entries - To
tidy up, get a registry patch file, cdgone.reg, from
www.aumha.org/downloads/cdgone.zip, extract it, r-click on it and merge
it into the registry and reboot
R-click the drive Icon, Properties, on the Recording page check 'Enable
recording'
Or get a proper Windows XP CD burning program and install it
eg RecordNowMax at www.sonic.com
