You asked for help, Andy, and not to be trite but help only comes to
those who are willing to help themselves. It doesn't take that much to
learn a few things about computer safety and backup, get a few anti
spyware programs, run some AV scans on a regular basis, and practice
safe computing. Like it or not the world of computing is not a plug it
in and forget it existence. Of course it's up to you to decide where
you will direct the effort.
