Install any drivers that came with your system (or devices) and updatee them
if newer ones are available BEFORE installing SP2.
There are no new drivers in SP2.
Infact, you may want to go to Windows Update site before installing SP2 to
see if there are any drivers for your system that your mfg didn't cover.

But before that ..
Install your AV and 3rd party firewall.
Optional go to Windows Update for drivers, then before SP2....
You disable or stop them just before you installing SP2.
When Sp2 reboots they will be on and you say no to WFW (or say yes and add
your FW to the exception list).
Your AV will be recognised and status know or it will not. If not, tell the
Security Center you will monitor the AV and the Security Center Icon tray
will disapper (if your have also turned on Auto Updates, which you should)

If your HDD is over 2 years old it would be a great time to replace it. If
the disk goes bad, there isn't anything that will make the system work. :)

Also, befroe installing SP2, defrag your primary partition, reboot a couple
of times before and let ti run for a hour,
then stop AV and FW, install SP2.

Repeat after Sp2 install (degrag, reboot 3 times, run 24 hours normally
(including program installs and reboots needed), over 2 or 3 days, the
system will self tune and boot faster, adjust MFT, etc.
