My WindowsXP(pack1) update to pack2 makes me clear that
the intended protection is for ONline, and have effect on every-
thing you do OFFline.
Your Html pages offline will not show any <embed> Movie-files
(like AVI ).
Your old CD's with a lot of media, like Encarta will give problems.
All your Excel-sheets must be re-saved, here too ActiveX control
problems.
PopUp windows are blocked, fine!, but very irritating when you
view your own offline html pages.
My Audigy SoundBlaster card stopped working, WinXP tells
me to reinstall the sound-card. (Not done Yet.)
Updates from WinXP(pack1) to WinXP(pack2) can not be re-
stored to the old version again!
I just updated it a week ago, (an English version in Singapore),
of course more problems will appear. There we go, formatting &
installing over again, something I do already for 15 years. I get
tired of reinstalling all my private software, that will take more
than
one week.
Is it not a good idea to develop an O.S. in which you don't have
to reinstall all your private software. (something like MS-DOS ?)
