SP2 Upgrade Includes Spyware?

I recently downloaded and installed the Windows XP Service
Pack 2 upgrade. After an anti-spyware scan, I discovered 3
registry entries associated with the MS Media Player that
were identified as spyware. At the advice of my anti-
spyware software I deleted the entries.

I find spyware really troubling and I'd like to know why
it was installed on my system.
